A year at our school
Choir & Stage 1 Spreading Christmas Cheer in Our Community
Our students have been busy spreading festive joy throughout our local community! This week, our School Choir and Stage 1 dancers took a short walk down the road to visit nearby nursing homes and bring holiday cheer through music, dance and friendly smiles.
The convenience of our school’s location makes these special visits so meaningful, the students walked together, excitedly chatting and rehearsing their songs as they made their way to the homes. Once they arrived, the Choir proudly performed a selection of Christmas carols and holiday favourites, while our Stage 1 students danced with confidence and enthusiasm. The residents were thrilled clapping along, singing with the children and enjoying every moment.
Students had an absolute blast not only practising and performing their songs and routines, but also taking the time to sit and chat with the residents afterwards. These heartwarming interactions help to forge beautiful connections across generations and truly showcased the spirit of giving during the festive season.
It was a wonderful celebration of goodwill, music and community one that our students and the residents will remember for a long time to come!
Sydney Excursion Years 3 -6
Our Years 3–6 Sydney excursion was an exciting day of learning, exploring and discovery! Students began their adventure at The Rocks, where they learned what life on Sydney Harbour was like long before 1788. They loved discovering how Aboriginal people lived, what they ate, and how they cared for the beautiful harbour. It was a meaningful way for students to connect with Australia’s history while standing in the very place these stories began.
From there, we hopped on a ferry across the sparkling harbour to Darling Harbour for a fun-filled afternoon. Students explored the fascinating underwater world at SEA LIFE Aquarium, coming face-to-face with sharks, stingrays and the always-popular King penguins. They also enjoyed meeting the incredibly lifelike figures at Madame Tussauds, posing with icons like Taylor Swift, King Charles and Nelson Mandela. It was a fantastic day filled with learning, excitement and unforgettable memories for everyone!
Grandparents Day.
Grandparents Day is always one of the highlights of our school year! We loved welcoming so many grandparents and special visitors into our classrooms to see what learning looks like each day. Our students were proud to share their work, perform with the choir, and showcase their amazing creativity in the art display. It was a wonderful celebration of our school community.
Colour Run.
Our annual Colour Run is always a highlight at Teralba Public School, a fun-filled day where students, staff and families come together to laugh, celebrate and get covered in colour! It’s a joyful event that builds community spirit and reminds us all that learning and school life can be vibrant, active, and full of smiles.
STEM Share kits.
STEM Share kits are used at Teralba Public School to support learning for all students as well as our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) program. Students have used the kits to design and code digital projects, create engaging podcasts, and develop problem-solving and collaboration skills through hands-on technology experiences.
Book Week.
Book Week is always a fantastic celebration of the joy of reading and storytelling! Students and staff at Teralba embrace the theme each year with a range of creative activities, all culminating in our much-loved Book Week Parade. It’s a highlight of the school year that brings our community together to share a love of books and imagination.
Science Week.
Science Week at Teralba Public School is an exciting time where curiosity and creativity take centre stage! Students take part in fascinating incursions from the Newcastle Museum and the Newcastle Planetarium, deepening their understanding of science through hands-on learning and real-world experiences. Throughout the week, classes explore experiments, STEM challenges, and interactive activities that inspire a love of discovery and problem-solving. It’s a wonderful celebration of how science helps us explore, question, and understand the world around us.
PBL Rewards Days.
Each term, our students celebrate their positive behaviour with exciting PBL Reward Days! These special days recognise students who consistently show respect, responsibility and care for others. Activities have included bike rides to Speers Point Park, water fun days, school discos, and much more – a great way to celebrate success together!
